Papervision 3D & Anaglyphs
http://www.papervision3d.org/ http://blog.papervision3d.org/ In my research I’ve heard of a freeware program called Papervision a couple of times. Barcinski Jeanjean, whose interactive 3D porfolio I mentioned earlier, employed it in the making of their website. From what I can gather the program allows you to render object in 3D which you can move around with movements of your mouse. The...

Holography
from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hologramm.JPG “A hologram is a picture that changes when looked at from different angles. Holography (from the Greek, ὅλος-hólos whole + γραφή-grafē writing, drawing) is a technique that allows the light scattered from an object to be recorded and later reconstructed so that it appears as if the object is in the same position relative to...

http://www.starosta.com/3dshowcase/iphanto.html From Boris Startosta’s website “A phantogram is a special kind of print that projects the 3-d image of an object out into the space in front of (or on top of) the printed surface. As such, a phantogram presents the three dimensional object without borders. There is no “window” through which the 3-d is...

Thoughts on anaglyph technology
Out of the techniques I have investigated for this project, I have had the enjoyed looking at the technology associated with anaglyphs the most. Ive done a 3D studio shoot, photographed some of the exhibitions in the museum in anaglyph and a 3D stop motion animation. I have also seen how some practitioners have put the technology to use in websites and in installations. I think that from the...

Stop Motion Anaglyph Animation Watch this with a pair of 3D red and blue anaglyph glasses . Inspired by barcinski & jeanjean’s 360 degree anaglyph panorama, ive made a small animation of my room to test the technique and see if i could recreate it. A stop-motion animation created from cyan / red anaglyph photographs. I was trying to combine anaglyphs with a 360 degree view of my room,...

Barcinski & Jeanjean: Making of their website blog
Part Two Here they describe the process of capturing the images they used for their anaglyph website. They shot the images of the bridge and themselves separately and combined them later using software. Part Three This part talks about rendering 3D animations and 2D text together in anaglyph. The idea of giving out 3D anaglyph glasses, which are cheap to make, with their website address...

Barcinski & Jeanjean
http://www.barcinski-jeanjean.com/ James pointed out this portfolio website for Barcinski & Jeanjean, two designers from amsterdam. They have made an impressive 3D anaglyph website, complete with a 3D ping pong mini game that plays while the site loads. What i found most impessive was the interactive 3D panorama that you see when you first inter the site.

New stuff
Look at these through some red/cyan 3d glasses. Inspired by the work of thomas couderc + clément vauchez posted below. I think that their approach to the anaglyph technology was interesting and unconventional. Rather than combining two almost identical images to create a 3D illusion, two juxtaposed images are layered on top of each other, each only visible by the lens of its corresponding colour....

Double click on each video to play Videos of an installation by thomas couderc + clément vauchez using the anaglyph style technique descried in the post below. I find it interesting how rather than have viewer of the piece wear anaglyph glasses as they walk around the exhibit they have played alternating translucent strips of red and blue filters in front of the images, so that when a viewer...

thomas couderc + clément vauchez
These are awsome, using the same principles as Anaglyphs, having one image in red and another blue, but not matching ones, when you look at them with 3D glasses the images superimpose ontop of each other, very cool. Must try out something along these lines. work by thomas couderc + clément vauchez. see more here

Animations
Animations made from the two photos used to create the museum anaglyphs. Presenting the images like this could give viewers that don’t have or can not wear the red/cyan glasses an impression of what the exhibits mite look like in 3D or reality.

3D Anaglyph Photographs. To see the 3D effect you will need a pair of Red/Cyan 3D glasses. I Went to the museum in search of some more thing to photograph in anaglyph. The museum was suggested to me in a crit so i went to check it out. I think the exhibits of a museum are a good subject for the use of anaglyoh photography because it allows people that haven’t been to see the exhibits in...

Mini Meanwood
An artificial tilt and shift picture created by using photoshop on an ordinary photograph. Comparing this with the shots i got using the tilt and shift lens makes me think that creating the miniature-esc type photographs is easeir and more successful using photoshop than it would be using the special lens. Photoshop allows you to manipulate the focus and blur more extremely than the lens allows,...

Tilt and Shift Minatures... Thoughts
Recently I have been using a tilt and shift lens to try and create images that look as if they are small models, like miniature villages. Ive had a little success getting this effect but I’m under the impression the most successful way to achieve what I’m after, is in fact to use a photograph shot with a standard lens and to apply the tilt and shift effect through Photoshop. To do this...

I booked out a Cannon TS-E 24mm, Tilt and Shift lens from uni and took out trying to recreate the miniature appearance of some images I have seen. Thoughts on anaglyph photography
For the past week Ive been getting into anaglyph photography, researching how they are created and attempting my own. At first I practiced the technique at home, to make an anaglyph you have to take two nearly identical photographs of the same scene, the second must be shot about 4 or 5 inches to the left or right of the first. Then the images are tinted cyan and red to match the left or right...

Thoughts on Redscale Film
My Redscale Set on Flickr For the past week I have been experimenting with Redscale film. I have shot 3 rolls, one in a 35mm Olympus RC range finder, one in a very simple plastic point and shoot and finally one in my Pentax SLR. As well as trying it in 3 different cameras I’ve tried to shoot different scenes and locations to compare the results and weather the effects of Redscale are suited...

Making Redscale Film
To make a roll of redscale film you will need: tape, scissors, one roll of normal 35mm colour film unused and one empty 35mm film. First, cut the leader or the unused film so it is straight and use the tape to attach it to the end of the used canister. Make sure that the films are taped to each other facing in opposite directions, so that the back of the first film is attached to the same side...

Redscale Film
Redscale flickr group Redscaling film is when you expose film from the opposite side that it was intended, having light pass through the emulsion of the film first rather than last. This achived by winding the 35mm film on to an already empty 35mm the wrong way round in a darkroom, so that when the film is shot in a camera the film inside is the back to front. This creates images with a strong...
